This past weekend was West Fest. It is a Carnival that Matt's sister Leilani does her Shave Ice booth. Well we were helping. However West Fest didn't start until later in the evening on Thursday and Friday. Since Matt had to spend the day in Provo to send Kekoa to summer school and Kalena went with her granparents down to St. George for a funeral I had Ka'iwa up at my mom's all day. Just the two of us. My mom bought a little swimming pool for the kids to use last week. So Ka'iwa and I set up camp in the back yard. While I was getting the chips and cherries and bottles of water Ka'iwa seemed to find Aunty Summer's tanning oil. When I went back outside Ka'iwa was allready spraying down her legs. When I asked what she was doing she said she wanted to 'get darker'. I think she picked that up last week when dear Aunty Summer was watching her. THANKS SUMM! Golly Whiz! The last thing Ka'iwa needs is tanning oil! Oh well. We slathered on the sunscreen and had a lot of fun! I think my little Ka'iwa is taking after her name sake: Aunty Kara, a Diva in the making. And if Ka'iwa turns out as awesome as Kara then I have no problem with that ;)

Today is Kekoa's Super Mega Birthday!

It is his 7th birthday on the 7th day of June in 2007! I can't believe my Buggie Bug is getting so big! This year has been a fun one for him. He went through 1st grade. He has lost lots of teeth. He got to visit his Uncle in California. Oh and lots of sleep overs at Tutu Heathers and Aunty Meg and Uncle Mario's. Oh where has all of the time gone.

So my dear sweet Bug! I love you. I love that you are so caring. I love that you always want to share with your sisters. I love that you love to give hugs. I hope this year is awesome. One more year and then you get baptized! Ah! I really am getting old. Love always, Mommy

Hip hop hooray! Ho! Hey! Ho! Where oh where has this past year gone? Kekoa is now a 2nd grader. I am one year older and have completed a whole school year in a new job?!? What the heck!!! Well this week has been crazy!! Being that last week all of the kids at school have been bouncing off of the walls! And have the teachers and faculty. I had a full school day on Monday. Tuesday was a half day and after that we had our last faculty party. On Wednesday we had another half day, but I had to stay at shcool to help get ready for graduation. Today I was only at school for 2 hours and now I am done! Yippie! I am ready for Summer.

I must say that as happy as I am this is also bittersweet for me. It is awesome because I was getting a little burnt out with school. I was ready to have a break from some of my students. I needed a break from the attitudes and excuses. However, I love 'my kids' to death and that is where the bittersweet part comes in . I don't know who will be around next fall. I have a tenative list of who I am supposed to have, but three months is a long time for my kids. A lot can happen. Today we signed yearbooks and that was fun. My book got pretty filled. I had students and teachers sign. I'm glad to know that some of the teachers appreciate me, but it was even nicer to have my kids thank me for taking care of them. I am going to miss seeing my kids. Part of the fun of my job is that I can have a normal life... and when I need something to make life interesting I can ask how any one of my students are doing. I have some of the coolest kids. I know for sure I am losing at least one, they are moving away. Other then that I guess we'll have to wait and see. As I cleaned up my class room it also made me sad to say good-bye to my collegues. We have quite a few moving away for various reasons and we are a pretty tight group at IHS. We slug through some pretty tough stuff together and there aren't that many of us so we have grown pretty tight. Then there are people like my friend Jamie. Jamie and LOVE to giggle and have fun. She is the Commercial Art teacher at IHS. I was lucky enough to see Jamie every morning for 1st period. It was awesome. We would take turns bringing breakfast and swapping stories about what's new. SO MUCH FUN!! Plus we get to make fun of stuff together and just be goofy. We are quite loud together and a little ditzy too, but it's a BLAST!! Oh! What will I do with out my Jamie fix every morning? Eh! We text each other enough I know I will live.

Here is the other thing about summer vacation...I don't know what I am going to do with myself for the next three months. I haven't been a SAHM (stay at home mom) for over 5 years. I will have all summer to be with my kids. And to top it all off my mother and father in law will not be around. Wow! I am very exctied to do a tons of stuff with them. I'm thinking park trips, library trips, days at the pool, maybe even go to a couple of museums.... we'll see. This will be a fun summer for us Palmers!
